JWPC has worked with a client over a number of years to convert a Listed Jacobean Manor House into an award winning hotel and spa set in 54 acres of the Lancashire Green Belt.
The Listed Building was previously in a state of disrepair on the English Heritage Buildings at Risk Register, and through successful negotiations with the local Council and English Heritage over a number of years, JWPC has secured several planning permissions and listed building consents to initially convert the manor house into hotel accommodation and to later add several annex buildings to create the hotel and spa complex present today - www.stanleyhouse.co.uk
Additional planning consents have seen the complex grow to include conferencing and function facilities and on-site restaurants. With the businesses success and expansion plans to compete in the market place, the additional needs have met with several planning complexities that required careful consideration and liaison with relevant consultants and decision making bodies, securing the consents sought by our client.
The success in this scheme came from recognising a long term strategic vision for conversion of the existing building along with additional development that would enhance the setting of the listed building and secure its future, taking it off the at risk register and meeting the very special circumstances for development in the Green Belt.
