news : call for potential development sites in oxford city

As part of Oxford City Council’s Local Development Framework, which will succeed the adopted Local Plan and other planning documents, it is producing a Sites & Policies Development Plan Document.  This will contain both general development control policies and site allocation policies.

The Council’s Planning Policy Section has now started work on the site allocations section of the document and is contacting landowners and agents regarding sites they may wish to bring forward for development in the period up to 2026.  It has issued guidance notes and a site pro forma which should be returned to the Council by Friday 11 December, together with a site plan and any accompanying documents considered helpful.

The form requires details of the future uses that landowners consider might be suitable for the site, an explanation as to how any preferred use(s) would contribute to the Council’s Core Strategy and whether there are any known constraints other than current planning policy/designation issues to developing the site.

Following receipt of possible sites, officers will test them against a range of criteria and develop and refine various potential development options ahead of public consultation, which it aims to carry out in October 2010 when it will publish a Site & Policies Options document.
