news : bigger plans call for lancaster office

Lancaster Planning Consultants New Office

JWPC Ltd, a well-established Town Planning Consultancy has opened a new Northern Office in
Lancaster . Established in 1993, the practice has grown from a sole-trader business to a specialist planning consultancy with offices in Woodstock , London and Clitheroe. Despite tough economic times, the business has evolved and expanded its operations in Lancashire and sees exciting times ahead.

Led by Director Paul Tunstall , the office aims to provide a first class, professional town planning consultancy service to current and new clients in the North West and beyond. The practice employs 10 Chartered Town Planners. Paul said:

‘Our new office at Waterview, White Cross, Lancaster allows the practice to plan for the future and will become our main office serving Northern England . These are sure to be exciting times ahead. Town planning faces massive changes and challenges over the next few years and JWPC aims to place itself at the forefront of this ever changing profession’.

The business sees great potential in North Lancashire which has seen a number of contentious planning issues emerge in recent years. Indeed, it is likely to remain a headline topic in 2010. LDF Development Plan Documents that will provide the template to shape the future development of an area are emerging with ever greater frequency and require careful and considered responses. JWPC represents many stakeholders’ interests and urges others to act now in shaping the future direction of their area and in protecting and promoting their own land assets.

In addition to making Development Plan representations we also assist clients in securing planning permission for a variety of developments and land uses in both an urban and rural setting. Retained clients include United Utilities, Duchy of Lancaster, Mitchells and Butlers , H o egh LNG and Pizza Express as well as a number of housebuilders, local authorities and individuals. Recent successes involve securing consent for a significant extension to a bespoke hotel in the Blackburn Green Belt and working to secure planning permission for associated infrastructure works for ‘Port Meridian’, a deepwater Liquified Natural Gas terminal 35km off the Fylde Coast which provides a pipeline to the National Grid at Barrow in Furness in order to import Natural Gas from around the world.
